January is Alzheimer’s Awareness Month.
We spoke with the Team Lead for Alzheimers Society Hamilton Halton, Karen Robins, who shares Halton’s statistics.
Robins says that a lot of people have negative thoughts about Alzheimer’s and dementia and their goal, especially this month, is to educate the public that there are some realities of living with dementia that isn’t always horrible.
She gives us statistics regarding age and gender where Alzheimer’s commonly presents itself.
During January, local Alzheimer’s society is focused on not only raising awareness about resources but about getting rid of the negative stigma surrounding Alzheimer’s and dementia.

Robins talks about what they’re doing specifically for this month.
Where they are playing a role in educating community partners to help customers have a more positive experience while out in the community.
