Last week, the provincial government made a ban on the promotion of vaping products.
This will take effect in gas stations and convenience stores.
Public Health Physician with the Halton Region, Dr. Deepika Lobo, says while vaping is generally considered a new phenomenon, we should understand the potential risks.
Dr. Lobo says it’s very concerning that vaping products are made with attractive flavours and appearances.
She adds that nicotine and cannabis products can cause lung damage, leading to many other issues within the body.
She believes that if you wouldn’t smoke cigarettes, don’t start vaping and that banning promotion should be just one step in a long line of regulations.
She says another step should be higher taxes on vaping products to make them less affordable.
