This week is Fire Prevention Week.
The Milton Fire Department is teaming up with the National Fire Protection Association to promote this year’s Fire Prevention Week campaign.
Acting Deputy Fire Chief of Operations for Milton Fire, Matt Townsend, explains the campaign motto, “Not Every Hero Wears a Cape. Plan and Practice Your Escape!”
There are some lessons for rural Miltonians that should be focused on.
Deputy Fire Chief for Fire Prevention and Support Services, Brad Bigrigg, says your wood stove or fireplace should be maintained well.
He adds that ashes should be disposed of away from the building to avoid any combustible areas like a wooden deck.
Townsend says residents need to be on top of their smoke detectors.
The Milton Fire Department is hosting Open Houses on Saturday, October 12th at 9:00a.m..
They will be at the Milton Memorial Arena, as well as their Reid Side Road fire station.
