The ‘Home of the Little NHL’ is home to Rogers Hometown Hockey this weekend.
The CBC program will be running live out of the Mold-Masters Sportsplex on Guelph Street in Georgetown.
Host of Hometown Hockey, Ron MacLean, called into myFM to discuss the weekend.
He says he enjoys the passion that North Halton residents show for their local hockey.
MacLean believes hockey is very important for towns and communities like Georgetown and Milton.
It’s not the first time Hometown Hockey has visited the Halton region.
The show was in Burlington last season, and Milton before that.
MacLean goes over just how the communities are picked for each season.
Halton Hills has had the long-lasting slogan, ‘Home of the Little NHL’.
MacLean loves the story of Gordon Alcott and how he shaped local hockey in Halton Hills.
Each week, Hometown Hockey features local hockey celebrities and figures from each town they broadcast from.
With Georgetown and Halton Hills having a fairly rich history in hockey, MacLean runs through the names of who will be appearing on the broadcast on Sunday.
The Hometown Hockey crew has travelled all over the country, from coast-to-coast-to-coast.
MacLean talks about his most unique experiences with the CBC program.
There are a lot of communities all over the country that the crew will see this season. MacLean talks about the places he’s most excited to see… Aside from Halton Hills, of course.
Hometown Hockey is all weekend long.
You can catch the action at the Mold-Masters Sportsplex on Guelph Street in Georgetown
