Project Rural Impact will have the Halton Police on rural roads ensuring motorists are obeying speed limits.
For the next two weeks they will be watching the roads during peak hours.
Especially roads where they have found drivers traveling 50 km/h or more over the limit.
Drivers found traveling at these speeds will have their licence suspended and their vehicle impounded.
The project comes after rural speed studies were conducted in Milton and Halton Hills revealing that speed is a concern on a number of roads.
The Halton Police say that rural residents deserve to feel safe walking along their roads and that officers will do their best to identify and charge those who aren’t following the rules of the road.
They remind residents that they can now report traffic complaints online.
