
Halton Police have released the numbers for their back-to-school initiative, Project Safe Start.
From Monday, August 26th to Friday, September 6th, over 4000 tickets were issued by Halton officers.
Sergeant Ryan Snow with the Halton Regional Police Traffic Services says he’s confused by drivers who refuse to adjust their driving habits.
Sergeant Snow adds that drivers must realize that they have a role to play.
He says if people just followed the rules like expected, the roads would be far safer.

During Project Safe Start, HRPS officers issued a total of 4,178 Provincial Offence Notices and 379 warnings. This compares to 3,592 Provincial Offence Notices and 566 warnings issued during Project Safe Start in 2018.
Top offences observed by police included:
– speeding (56 per cent of total tickets issued)
– sign infractions (19 per cent of total tickets issued)
– documentary offices (14 percent of total tickets issued)
– hand-held device offences (2 per cent of total tickets issued)
