The Federation of Canadian Municipalities consists of 75 board members assisting five table officers who lobby the federal government to make the best interests for municipalities known.
Joanne Vanderheyden is one of those five table officers, as she’s the 2nd Vice President.
She says the FCM have released what they’re seeking from the federal government and it’s what they’re pitching all parties this election season, and there are quite a few.
She encourages voters to challenge those running for office using their platform.
She admits there is added pressure to her role when political parties battle for the country’s control, but they collaborate to ensure their platform is as solid as possible.
The FCM would like to see the gas tax funds transfer to be doubled again in 2020 like it was this past year, as well as more to be done to tackle affordable housing, and much more.
Their full platform can be found on FCM.ca
