A bylaw and a billboard seem to cause an issue ahead of the Federal Election.
Current, Milton MP Lisa Raitt had been running electronic signage with the wording “re-elect” in them.
However, that is a violation of a local bylaw in the Town of Milton.
According to the bylaw, billboards and other types of electronic signs are considered an election sign when used for election purposes and cannot be placed earlier than the day that the writ of election is issued.
According to Raitt’s campagin team, as soon as they were made aware of the issue they took steps to comply with the bylaw including removing the words “re-elect”.
The Town will also be providing all Federal Candidates with information packages to outline this by-law.
