On the afternoon of Wednesday, August 21st, a 57-year old Burlington woman was shot and killed by her husband.
The shooting took place at their home on No. 2 Side Road.
Laura Grant was considered a beloved member of her community, and worked as an EMS Dispatcher for the Peel Region.
Her husband, 57-year old Kenneth Soderhuysen, was charged with First Degree Murder and appeared in a Milton court.
Development Manager of Halton Women’s Place, Carm Bozzo, talks about her reaction to the shooting.
Bozzo adds that she hopes more women will look to reach out to Halton Women’s Place moving forward.
She tries to help identify possible warning signs of an abusive relationship.
She says the Burlington shooting had a tragic end, but it should never end that way.
And says bystanders have often played a big role in helping women find the help they need.
Bozzo ends extending a hand to Laura Grant’s family following the shooting.
