Milton’s Town Council passed a notice of motion this week that will have the Town plan how they can reduce waste and litter in the community.
The motion asks for the Town to determine how and when depots will be installed that will allow residents to ensure that their plastic, aluminum, and metal wastes are disposed of properly.
One of the motioners, Ward 4 Town Councillor Sameera Ali, believes the idea will inspire nearby communities.
Milton Good Neighbours Day was a success this year and the government suggests more events like that would be helpful in promoting waste education and prevention.
Councillor Ali agrees.
Ali feels the initiative will have a positive response from residents.
The motion will be discussed further at the next town council meeting on Monday, September 16th.
