Environment Minister, Jeff Yurek and the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks sent a letter to Ontario’s Conservation Authorities telling them to cancel programs that aren’t considered core.
The letter has caused a lot of confusion about what the government funds and what is considered core.
He tells us how he feels about the letter.
Conservation Halton’s Chief Administrative Officer, Hassaan Basit, gives us an idea of just how much runs without the help of tax dollars.
Basit, tells us about the programs he thinks should be supported by the government.
Basit that adds as it stands today, the government contributes 145 thousand dollars towards those core services but it isn’t even a drop in the bucket.
He says that there needs to be a balanced approach to mitigating risks in a way that doesn’t burden taxpayers.
