Halton Police have shared some statistics on motorcycle collisions in the region.
They shared in a tweet that 31 motorcycle collisions have occurred in Halton in the first 32 weeks of the year.
Sergeant Ryan Snow with Halton Police says that’s an increase over past years.
Sargeant Snow adds that motorcyclists need to realize that they will not fair well in any collision.
He says half of motorcycle collisions occur when a motorists turns left in front of a motorcyclist.
The other half is when the motorcyclist moves too fast and runs out of room to maneuver safely.
Halton Police’s tweet also says that 40% of motorcycle collisions result in life-altering injury or death for the rider.
Snow says that surprisingly most collisions actually occur on the nicer days of the year.
Snow ends by saying the big things for motorcyclists are to slow down and make sure other motorists can see you.
He says stay away from wearing all black, make sure your lights are on, and ride with caution.
