Sobeys is looking to make grocery shopping easier for some people.
The grocery chain is turning down the lights and reducing noise for sensory-friendly shopping hours.
Taking place on Wednesday’s, between 6:00p.m. – 8:00p.m., the store hopes to ease the task of shopping for people with autism or sensory sensitivity issues.
Manager of Retail Operations with Sobeys, Heidi Harley, talks about why the initiative was put forward by the company.
Harley adds the initiative began in Atlantic Canada and has been making it’s way across the country.
She hopes now that Ontario residents, including Milton, can take advantage of the times available to shop.
The weekly sensory sensitivity shopping event began on Wednesday, July 24th, across Ontario.
