Halton Region has made it very clear to the Provincial Government, it’s time to put the power in development back in the local municipalities hands.
The Region passed a motion last week asking the Province to cease imposing the old Ontario Municipal Board (OMB) rules on the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal (LPAT).
Regional Councillor for Ward 1 Colin Best says this is mico-manging by the government.
Councillor Best adds that part of the reason that municipalities make these decisions is to align growth.
Meanwhile, Regional Councillor Zeeshan Hamid says they hope to make this issue a provincial one in the next election.
