On Monday, June 24th, Milton Town Council passed a motion asking the provincial government to review the Ontario Places to Grow Act.
The act was created in 2006 and sets out how they want municipalities to develop.
Ward 2 councillor, John Challinor II, outlines the promises various levels of government made to Milton between 1993 and 1997.
Councillor Challinor II, says the act has limited Milton’s ability to provide a full range of housing in favour of apartments and condos.
This act was created in 2006 and determines the growth and building developments they expect to see from municipalities.
Milton forecasted growth of 120 thousand people by 2020, they are almost there.
Ward 2 councillor, John Challinor II, feels that if the province were to give Milton the go-ahead on fulfilling their needs, will not be enough.
Challinor adds that funds are not in place to do a proper job in supporting Milton or any other municipality.
The region of Halton has also experienced problems with construction on arterial roads like Britannia Road which was supposed to be completed in 2006.
