The Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury is increasing its focus on accessible parking enforcement throughout November as part of its annual Accessible Parking Blitz.
This year’s campaign carries the theme “Access for All Starts with All of Us,” highlighting the shared responsibility of drivers, businesses, property owners and residents in ensuring accessible parking spaces remain available for those who need them.
The Town’s message is simple: Keep accessible parking clear.
Accessible parking spaces are reserved exclusively for vehicles displaying a valid accessible parking permit. These designated spaces are typically located close to building entrances and provide additional room for people using mobility aids such as wheelchairs, scooters and walkers.
The striped access aisles beside accessible parking spaces are also an important part of the designated area and must remain clear to allow people to safely enter and exit their vehicles.
“Keeping accessible parking clear is a responsibility we all share as a community,” says Robert Belsey, Manager of Enforcement. “By parking responsibly, respecting permit requirements, and reporting permit misuse, we are building a BWG where everyone can safely and reliably access the places they need to go. Access for all truly starts with all of us.”
Throughout November, the Town’s Enforcement Officers will increase their presence in public parking lots and along roadways. Their efforts will focus on education, community outreach and enforcement, including ensuring permits are properly displayed and designated spaces remain available.
In November 2025, BWG’s Enforcement team issued 23 tickets for accessible parking violations. While enforcement remains part of the campaign, the Town says its priority is raising awareness and encouraging responsible parking practices.
Local businesses can also request campaign posters from the Town’s Enforcement Division to display at their establishments.
Residents are reminded that accessible parking permits must be clearly visible while parked and can only be used when the permit holder is travelling in the vehicle. Misusing an accessible parking space or permit can result in fines and additional enforcement action.
Anyone who witnesses accessible parking or permit misuse is encouraged to contact the Town’s Enforcement Division at enforcement@townofbwg.com or 905-775-5366, extension 1701.
