A major natural gas leak at a home in Milton prompted precautionary evacuations.
Halton Regional Police, Milton Fire Department, and Milton Hydro responded to a request for assistance from Enbridge Gas at about 7:45 p.m. on Monday, November 2nd, at a residence on Bartleman Terrace.
Enbridge Gas workers had initially been called to investigate an odour of gas but quickly determined there was an apparent major gas leak inside the home.
Emergency responders and utility crews carried out a staged response to address the situation. Nearby homes were evacuated as a precaution, with transit buses used to provide temporary shelter for affected residents.
The gas leak was dealt with later that evening, and residents were able to return to their homes. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
