The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) has delivered a second-quarter payment of $2,044,424 to the Town of Milton for hosting Elements Casino Mohawk.
The payment covers the period from July 1st to September 30th.
So far, Milton has received $3,988,216 this fiscal year. Since the casino opened in August 1999, the town has collected more than $159 million in total. These revenues are distributed under the Municipality Contribution Agreement, which applies a consistent formula across Ontario’s land-based casinos.
“OLG’s Municipality Contribution Agreement provides Milton with a share of local casino revenue to invest and enhance our community,” says Zee Hamid, Milton MPP and Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming. “Gaming facilities generate economic activity, support local jobs and investment, and provide revenue that helps fund priorities that are important to the people of Ontario.”
Since 1994, host communities across Ontario have received almost $2.4 billion in non-tax gaming revenue. OLG notes that these funds contribute to local infrastructure, economic development, and job creation.
