Halton Hills residents are being invited to bring their neighbourhoods together, collect food donations and compete for the chance to host the Ultimate Neighbourhood Block Party.
The Hey Neighbour Ultimate Neighbourhood Block Party Contest is being held in celebration of National Good Neighbour Day, which was on Monday, September 28th. Residents are encouraged to work together to collect non-perishable food donations for Acton Food Share and Georgetown Bread Basket.
The neighbourhood or street that collects the most food by weight will win the Ultimate Neighbourhood Block Party, featuring food, entertainment and other community activities.
“Knowing your neighbours is part of what makes small-town living so special,” says Mayor Ann Lawlor. “The Hey Neighbour Ultimate Neighbourhood Block Party Contest brings our Town’s motto to life by creating opportunities for residents to connect, have fun and give back to the community together.”
The contest is part of the Town’s Hey Neighbour initiative, which aims to encourage residents to build connections and strengthen their communities through activities including Play Streets, Block Parties, Open Streets, Good Neighbour Day and Toys in Parks.
The contest is open to Halton Hills residents, with registration available to individuals aged 18 and older. Residents of all ages are encouraged to participate.
The contest closes at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 3rd.
