A 55-year-old man has been arrested and another man remains wanted after a break-in at a City of Hamilton facility resulted in two municipal vehicles being stolen.
Hamilton Police say two individuals entered a City facility in central Hamilton at around 12:24 a.m. on July 22nd, and stole several sets of keys belonging to City fleet vehicles. The suspects then left in one of the stolen vehicles.
Within hours, police in another jurisdiction stopped the vehicle for stunt driving and seized it. At the time, the vehicle had not yet been reported stolen.
As the investigation continued, detectives connected the vehicle to the break-in. A second stolen City vehicle was later recovered by Hamilton Police during an unrelated investigation.
Both vehicles have since been returned to the City of Hamilton.
Investigators identified two men and obtained warrants for their arrests. 55-year-old Mark McCombe was arrested in Toronto while attempting to board a flight leaving the country.
35-year-old Brandon Poole remains wanted. Police say he is believed to have no fixed address and frequents the Hamilton, Niagara, and Burlington areas.
Both men face charges of:
- Break and Enter – Commit Theft
- Disguise with Intent
- Theft of a Motor Vehicle
