St. Paul's United Church in Milton
St. Paul’s United Church is hosting a complimentary estate planning seminar this weekend, offering attendees information on wills, powers of attorney, charitable giving and estate planning.
The seminar runs from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 19th, and will feature presentations from lawyer Lorne Greenwood and financial planner Mike Busby.
Greenwood will discuss what happens when someone does not have a will or power of attorney. Busby will cover estate planning, including ways to manage RRSPs and RRIFs to potentially leave more to charity and less to the Canada Revenue Agency.
Busby will also discuss how people can potentially bypass capital gains taxes on stocks, bonds and mutual funds when gifting the proceeds to a registered charity.
The organizers note that about 50% of Canadians have a will, while only 30% have a formal estate plan.
Refreshments will be available.
Anyone wishing to attend is asked to reserve a seat with Bill Manuel before Friday, September 18th, by calling 289-259-9486 or emailing jeep52@cogeco.ca.
