A 27-year-old Oakville man is facing firearms charges following a shooting investigation in Dundas.
Hamilton Police responded to reports of gunfire near John Prentice Park and Renata Court shortly before 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 4th. Officers located three males near a wooded area of the park, with two arrested nearby and a third fleeing the area.
The Shooting Response Team, assisted by Divisional Criminal Investigations, took over the investigation and determined that a firearm had been discharged multiple times.
On Tuesday, September 8th, investigators executed a search warrant at a Hamilton residence, where they seized several firearms, ammunition, armoured plating and tactical equipment.
The 27-year-old Oakville man has been charged with Careless Use of a Firearm and Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm.
A 25-year-old Thornbury man is facing the same charges, while a 25-year-old Dundas man has been identified and remains wanted on charges of Careless Use of a Firearm, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm and Reckless Discharge of a Firearm.
Police continue to seek information from anyone who may have witnessed the incident or captured dash camera, residential security or cellphone video in the area at the time of the shooting.
