Run For Milton returns this weekend, bringing the community together for a family-friendly run and walk in support of the Milton District Hospital Foundation.
Organized by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association through their Mercy 4 Mankind charity wing, the annual event will feature a 5K walk/run and a 1K family fun walk, welcoming participants of all ages and abilities.
The Milton event has been held for 10 years, with organizers reporting that $110,000 has been raised to date for the Milton District Hospital Foundation. Last year’s event managed to bring in $8000.
Faran Chaudry is the media representative for the local chapter in Milton. He’s hoping to see new and old faces at this weekend’s event.
The organization says it has raised more than $3 million for Canadian charities, with all funds staying in Canada and supporting local causes. Mercy 4 Mankind also says it has served communities in more than 50 cities, planted more than 50,000 trees and distributed more than 1.5 million homeless feeding packs across the country.
Run For Milton will take place Sunday, September 13th at Milton Community Sports Park, located at 805 Santa Maria Boulecard in Milton. Registration will begin at 10:00 a.m. followed by a brief opening ceremony. The event will then be able underway, and it’s expected to wrap up in the afternoon.
