As concerns over e-scooters grow in Milton, new provincial rules could be on the way as early as this fall.
Milton MPP Zee Hamid said the province is working on legislation to regulate e-scooters, with an announcement likely to come before the Oct. 26 municipal election.
“We will bring forward legislation to control them,” Hamid said during a community town hall Wednesday night. “Just to what extent is still being debated and figured out.”
The update came during a lively discussion at the Milton Sports Centre, where residents, local politicians and school board trustees gathered to talk about the growing use of e-scooters and e-bikes — and what can be done to make them safer.
