The Town of Halton Hills is well on its way to hitting its tree canopy goal, having already put 1,400 new trees into the ground as of July.

According to Michelle Bourdeau, the town’s manager of environment and climate, staff and community partners remain on schedule to plant 2,600 trees by the end of 2026.

While spring planting brought 40 trees to Georgetown’s Guelph Street and another 50 to Acton’s Queen Street, Bourdeau said the bulk of the municipality’s efforts are saved for the cooler months ahead.
