Milton Public Library's Beaty branch (2021)
The Milton Public Library is showcasing an exhibit highlighting the history, culture, and importance of the Cree language in Canada.
Cree: The People’s Language is presented by the Canadian Language Museum and features six colourful panels with maps, photographs, interactive information, and audio recordings from Cree-speaking communities across the country.
This exhibit explores Cree, which is the most widely spoken Indigenous language in Canada. More than 100,000 Canadians reported a Cree dialect as their mother tongue, with Cree-speaking communities stretching from the Atlantic coast to the Rocky Mountains.
It’s on display in the Beaty Lounge at the Beaty Branch until Saturday, September 26th.
Find the Beaty Branch at 945 Fourth Line in Milton.
