A Georgetown man is facing an assault charge after an incident following a collision involving a cyclist in Guelph.
Emergency services responded to Gordon Street and McGilvray Street at around 10:40 p.m. on Tuesday, August 11th after a cyclist was struck by a vehicle. The 38-year-old cyclist was taken to hospital for treatment of a leg injury.
While investigating the collision, police learned the driver of the vehicle had allegedly been punched twice in the face by a passerby. The driver had significant swelling to his lip and cheek and told officers he would seek medical attention later.
The 29-year-old Georgetown man has been charged with assault in connection with the incident. A 67-year-old Guelph man was also charged with making an illegal turn.
