Tempel Canada will invest $132 million to build a new manufacturing facility in Burlington.
The Ontario government announced the investment by Tempel Canada, a subsidiary of Worthington Steel, which will establish a 250,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Burlington. The project will sustain more than 200 existing jobs and create nearly 100 new positions.
The new facility will manufacture transformer cores and precision electrical steel laminations used in power conversion and distribution. The company says the expansion will more than double its Canadian footprint and help meet growing demand driven by artificial intelligence, data infrastructure and energy projects across North America.
Ontario is contributing $5 million toward the project through the Advanced Manufacturing and Innovation Competitiveness stream of the Regional Development Program.
The province says the investment supports its efforts to strengthen advanced manufacturing, expand electricity infrastructure and reinforce North American supply chains.
Construction of the new facility is part of Tempel Canada’s long-term expansion plans in Burlington.
