Conservation Halton is inviting community members to volunteer this summer to help restore natural habitat at Hidden Valley Park through a series of stewardship events running from July through September.
The Community Volunteer Days program gives participants the opportunity to work alongside Conservation Halton’s Landscape Restoration Team to improve the park’s ecosystem by removing invasive plant species and planting native trees, shrubs and wildflowers.
The restoration work is intended to improve wildlife habitat, support biodiversity and strengthen ecological connections between Cootes Paradise and the Niagara Escarpment.
Three invasive plant removal events have been scheduled for:
- July 22nd
- August 5th
- August 19th
A native tree planting event is also planned for September 19th.
All equipment will be provided for volunteers. Participants will be required to sign a waiver upon arrival, while volunteers under the age of 18 must have a waiver signed by a parent or guardian.
Those interested in participating can register for individual volunteer days here. Questions about the program can be directed to the Landscape Restoration Team by email at stewardship@hrca.on.ca.
