MP Adam van Koeverden, 2022, outside his office at 16 Hugh Lane
Sustainable Milton is inviting residents to take part in a public demonstration in Milton this week focused on federal environmental and climate policy.
They’ve organized a “Day of Action” for Thursday, June 25th, beginning at 2:00 p.m. It will take place at Burlington North-Milton West MP Adam van Koeverden’s office, located at 16 Hugh Lane, across from Milton Town Hall.
According to organizers, it’s intended to raise awareness about what they describe as a series of environmental policy rollbacks introduced by the federal government under Prime Minister Mark Carney since 2025.
The event references a report compiled by environmental law organization Ecojustice that outlines a number of federal policy decisions made over the past year. Among the changes highlighted in the document are the elimination of the federal consumer carbon price and rebate system, changes to major project approval processes, the end of certain environmental and energy-efficiency programs, modifications to clean electricity regulations, and federal support for various energy infrastructure projects. Find the full document here.
Participants are being encouraged to bring signs and take part in a public gathering highlighting concerns around climate policy, environmental protections, fossil fuel development, public transit funding, and clean energy initiatives.
