The Halton District School Board (HDSB) is now accepting applications for its Personal Support Worker (PSW) Certificate Program, with spaces available for both the Fall 2026 and Winter 2027 cohorts.
The program is open to learners across Halton and Ontario who will be at least 18 years old by the start of classes.
To help address the growing demand for healthcare workers across the province, the program is currently being offered at a reduced cost. Tuition has been lowered to $500, in addition to a non-refundable $300 application fee, compared to the program’s regular cost of $2,500.
Offered in partnership with the Ontario Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Long-Term Care, the 20-week program combines classroom instruction with hands-on training through clinical practicums and co-operative education placements.
Students enrolled in the program will earn healthcare-related secondary school credits that can be applied toward an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or used to strengthen applications for future post-secondary studies. An Ontario Secondary School Diploma is not required to register.
Graduates will be prepared to enter the workforce in a variety of healthcare settings, including long-term care homes, assisted living facilities, group homes and community health organizations.
To receive certification, students must successfully complete the program and achieve a minimum score of 70% on the PSW certification exam.
Classes are delivered in-person at the Robert Bateman Community Centre in Burlington.
Applications are available here.
