As another school year winds down, the Halton Learning Foundation (HLF) is encouraging families, students, and community members to recognize educators who have made a difference through its annual Thank a Teacher campaign.
The initiative allows supporters to make a donation in honour of a teacher or school staff member within the Halton District School Board (HDSB). Funds raised through the campaign help support students across Halton Region who may be facing financial barriers that impact their ability to fully participate in school life.
HLF CEO Marc Clare says that when a donation is made, the honoured educator receives a personalized card notifying them that a gift has been made in their name.
Funds raised through Thank a Teacher support programs that help students access basic necessities and other resources that contribute to their well-being and success at school.
Students from Garth Webb Secondary School shared some of the reasons they appreciate their teachers, including support during difficult times, patience when learning new concepts, and creating classroom environments where students feel comfortable expressing themselves.
Thank a Teacher will run until the end of the month.
HLF is a charitable organization that works alongside the Halton District School Board to help remove financial barriers for students and families throughout Burlington, Oakville, Milton, and Halton Hills.
