The Milton Public Library (MPL) has announced acclaimed Canadian comedian and author Mary Walsh as the featured writer for the 2026 One Book One Milton (OBOM) program.
This year’s selected title is Brassy Bit of Aging Crumpet: A Memoir in Pieces, a collection of essays reflecting on aging, family, identity, addiction, and resilience through Walsh’s trademark humour and honesty.
Now entering its 13th year, One Book One Milton is the library’s annual community reading initiative. Previous featured authors have included Margaret Atwood, Chris Hadfield, Sarah Polley, Jagmeet Singh, and Waubgeshig Rice.
Walsh is best known as the creator and star of the CBC comedy series This Hour Has 22 Minutes and has earned multiple Gemini and Canadian Screen Awards throughout her career.
An Evening with Mary Walsh is scheduled for Wednesday, September 23rd at the FirstOntario Arts Centre Milton. The event will feature a moderated discussion hosted by Talia Kliot followed by a book signing. Tickets are on sale May 25th, with discounted pricing available for library cardholders.
Copies of the memoir will also be available for purchase and borrowing through Milton Public Library branches.
