Milton continued to see strong economic growth in 2025, with new data showing major gains in employment, industrial activity and business investment across the community.
According to the 2025 InvestMilton Annual Report, employment in Milton has grown by about 25% since 2020, helping position the town as one of the leading economic growth markets in the Greater Toronto Area.
The report says industrial leasing activity in Milton more than doubled in 2025, while employment land vacancies dropped from 19% to 12% as of the first quarter of 2026. Milton also expanded its industrial inventory by nearly two million square feet, creating additional space aimed at attracting major employers and global head offices.
Town officials say more than 100 new businesses opened in Milton during 2025 through a combination of start-ups, company relocations and business expansions. International firms also began operations in the town’s 401 Business Park and Derry Green Corporate Business Park.
Advanced manufacturing remained a key sector locally, supporting more than 6,500 jobs, while employment in transportation and warehousing increased by 10%. The strongest gains came in professional, scientific and technical services, where employment in engineering, IT services, technical consulting and life sciences support has grown by 34% since 2021.
Town officials add that continued investments in infrastructure and planning are helping support long-term economic growth, including expanded transit service and ongoing development connected to the Milton Education Village project.
InvestMilton Senior Director of Strategic Initiatives Robbie Grewal says Milton’s growth is being driven by collaboration between planning, infrastructure and workforce development to help businesses remain competitive long-term.
