Town of Milton Council Chambers, 2019
Galen Naidoo Harris has officially announced his campaign for Regional Councillor in Ward 2 in Milton ahead of the 2026 municipal election.
The position will be up for grabs after incumbent Councillor Rick Malboeuf announced his decision to not seek re-election this week.
Naidoo Harris, a lifelong Milton resident, says his campaign will focus on affordability, infrastructure, public safety and improving municipal service levels as the community continues to manage rapid growth.
In announcing his candidacy on social media, he said families are facing rising costs of living while also dealing with concerns around infrastructure, municipal services and community safety. He added that Milton needs “fresh, thoughtful, progressive leadership” at both Town Hall and the regional level.
Naidoo Harris says he plans to prioritize listening to residents and advocating for stronger representation for Ward 2 families and neighbourhoods.
This won’t be a first for Naidoo Harris, as he ran for Town Council in 2018, and was also the Liberal candidate for Milton in the 2024 by-election.
So far, he’s going up against current Town Councillor for Milton’s Ward 2, John Challinor II. Challinor declared his bid this week, leaving his Town Council position up for grabs.
The municipal election is set for October 26th.
