Regional Councillor for Milton’s Ward 2, Rick Malboeuf, has announced that he will not be seeking re-election in the upcoming Municipal Election.
He’s currently in his 22nd year serving as a Milton Councillor, and 14th year as a Halton Regional Councillor for Milton.
At the end of the Council meeting held on Monday, May 11th, Councillor Malboeuf shared that he always felt that politicians should adhere to term limits. He noted that his personal benchmark was to never hold the same role for more than two consecutive terms. It’s because of this that he has decided to step away from local politics once his term is up this fall.
“After 22 years, it’s time to move on and pass on the torch,” Malboeuf said before an applause by Council.
He ended his brief speech by saying he’ll likely have more to say at the end of the term.
