The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) is warning residents about a spike in auto thefts in Burlington.
There have reportedly been 20 vehicle thefts or attempted thefts in the past week alone, with Toyota vehicles being the most frequently targeted.
Investigators note that thieves are becoming increasingly sophisticated, but say there are several steps residents can take to help protect their vehicles.
Tips include parking in a locked garage when possible, blocking vehicles in with another car, using a steering wheel lock, installing a GPS tracker, adding an OBD port protector, and considering a kill switch.
Police are reminding residents to stay vigilant and take preventative measures to reduce the risk of theft.
