Maplehurst Correctional Complex and Vanier Centre for Women in Milton
The Ministry of the Solicitor General has announced an inquest into the death of Stefan Ryan.
Dr. Kenneth Peckham, Regional Supervising Coroner with the Central West Office, says the inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.
Ryan died in hospital on April 29th, 2022, after being transferred from the Maplehurst Correctional Complex in Milton. He was 46-years-old.
The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding his death, and a jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths in the future.
Details on the date and location of the inquest are expected to be released at a later time.
