A Burlington man has been arrested following a bank robbery in the city.
The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) says it happened at around 9:55 a.m. on Tuesday, April 28th at a Royal Bank branch on Brant Street in Burlington. Investigators allege a male suspect entered the bank and handed a note to a teller demanding cash, indicating he had a firearm.
Police say the suspect obtained a small amount of money before leaving the bank, but officers quickly responded and arrested him outside the building. All of the stolen cash was recovered, and a black BB gun was seized.
No injuries were reported during the incident.
50-year-old Stephen Laing has been charged with:
- Robbery with a Firearm
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
