A Barrie woman is facing impaired driving charges after being stopped while travelling the wrong way on a downtown street.
Barrie Police say the incident occurred on Saturday, April 11th, when officers observed a vehicle heading southbound on Clapperton Street, which is designated as a one-way northbound road. During the traffic stop, officers detected an odour of alcohol and observed multiple open and unopened cans of alcohol within the driver’s reach. A roadside breath test was administered, resulting in a fail and the driver’s arrest.
The 27-year-old Barrie woman has been charged with:
- Impaired operation
- Impaired operation – 80 above
- Fail to comply with probation order
Her driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days, with police reminding the public to report suspected impaired drivers by calling 911.
