A new GO Transit expansion will directly benefit residents in Halton Hills, as the Kitchener line that runs through both Acton and Georgetown is set to extend service all the way to Stratford this summer.
The Province of Ontario announced that GO train service to Stratford will begin July 6th, with one daily round trip connecting the city to Union Station. The route follows the Kitchener GO Line, which already serves communities along the corridor, including Halton Hills.
For local riders, this means the same train line that runs through Acton and Georgetown will now provide a direct connection to Stratford, while continuing to link commuters to key hubs such as Brampton, Kitchener, and Toronto.
Weekday service will include a morning trip from Stratford toward Toronto and a return trip in the afternoon. Weekend trips are also planned, making it easier for residents to travel westbound for tourism, including visits to the renowned Stratford Festival.
The expansion is part of the province’s broader plan to improve transit across Ontario, with investments aimed at increasing service frequency and connecting more communities along existing rail corridors like the Kitchener line.
