The Townsend Smith Foundation has officially rebranded as North Halton Hospice as it continues working towards establishing a residential hospice in the region.
The organization says the new name and visual identity better reflect its evolving role in providing hospice palliative care, grief and bereavement support, and community wellness services. The change comes as efforts continue to build a residential hospice in Georgetown, with the updated branding designed to highlight both the communities served and the organization’s focus on compassionate, end-of-life care.
“This is an important step forward for our organization and for the community we serve,” says Executive Director Kim Kohlberger. “The name North Halton Hospice more clearly reflects the care and support we are working to provide. Our focus remains on ensuring individuals and families have access to compassionate care close to home.”
Board Chair Ty Shattuck adds, “The care we are working to bring to North Halton exists because of the generosity and belief of the Townsend and Smith families. As we move forward under a new name, we do so with a clear responsibility to carry that history forward in a way that continues to serve our community with compassion and integrity.”
The organization says the rebrand builds on a legacy established in 2012 by the Townsend and Smith families, whose contributions will continue to be honoured as the project moves forward.
Work is underway to put the hospice on the property of Hillcrest United Church in Georgetown. It’s just across from Pineview Elementary School on Trafalgar Road.
North Halton Hospice will continue its work to develop a residential hospice and expand services in the community. Follow along here.
