The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) have charged a father and son and seized two stolen vehicles following an investigation in Milton.
The investigation began in November after officers identified inconsistencies in Ministry of Transportation registration documents linked to two vehicles believed to have altered Vehicle Identification Numbers. Investigators allege fraudulent bills of sale and employment letters were used to register the vehicles to an unsuspecting local company, and later seized a 2023 Ford F-150 stolen from Mississauga and a 2021 Dodge Charger stolen from Windsor.
Police say a 55-year-old Orangeville man was charged in February with multiple offences:
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime – Obliterated VIN (2 counts)
- Uttering Forged Documents (5 counts)
- Disobey Court Order (3 counts)
- Driving While Under Suspension
A 28-year-old Milton man was later charged in March with additional counts:
- Uttering Forged Documents (2 counts)
- Driving While Under Suspension (2 counts)
Both accused have been released from custody and are scheduled to appear in court at a later date, while investigators continue to look into the possibility of further offences and are asking anyone with information to come forward.
