
Maplehurst Correctional Complex and Vanier Centre for Women in Milton
A correctional officer at Maplehurst Correctional Complex in Milton has been charged following a police investigation into alleged contraband smuggling.
The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) says the investigation began in early February after receiving information that a correctional officer was transporting prohibited items into the facility on Martin Street. Following a month-long investigation, officers arrested and charged 33-year-old Adrian Deonarine of Mississauga on Thursday, March 19th.
Police say Deonarine is charged with one count of breach of trust by a public officer. He has since been released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court in Milton at a later date.
