A Burlington man is facing multiple charges after allegedly driving the wrong way on the QEW in an attempt to flee a collision.
OPP officers responded at around 7:13 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18th to reports of a grey sedan travelling in the wrong direction in the Fort Erie-bound lanes near Third Line in Oakville. Investigators say the vehicle had been involved in a collision with a tractor trailer, leaving behind its bumper and licence plate before fleeing the scene.
Police say the sedan then travelled about two kilometres along the shoulder in the wrong direction before exiting at Kerr Street. The vehicle was later located in a parking lot near Dorval Drive and Kerr Street.
A 26-year-old man from Burlington was arrested and charged with:
- Operation While Impaired
- Operation While Impaired – 80 Plus
- Dangerous Operation
- Fail to Stop After Accident
- Owner Operate a Vehicle Without Insurance
No injuries were reported.
The accused has been released with a court date scheduled for May in Milton.
