The 20th Anniversary Kevin Lord Memorial Spring Classic golf tournament will take place this spring at Bear Creek Golf Club.
The fundraiser was established in 2007 in memory of Kevin Lord, a former New Tecumseth resident and aspiring JRA ice hockey player with the Newmarket Hurricanes, as well as a world-class ball hockey player who represented Canada at the 2004 World Junior Ball Hockey Championships. Lord passed away in 2006 at age 20 following a battle with brain cancer. The event began as a dinner and dance before transitioning to a golf tournament in 2013.
Proceeds support several organizations, including the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada, Campfire Circle, Stevenson Memorial Hospital, Matthews House Hospice, and other local charities and families in need.
The tournament is open to the first 172 registered golfers. The cost is $160 per player or $640 per team, which includes 18 holes of golf, a buffet dinner and a prize.
It will take place Saturday, May 30th. Those interested are encouraged to register before May 1st to secure a spot by emailing Al Lord at allord6909@gmail.com or by calling 416-576-6128.
