The Halton Hills Public Library (HHPL) is inviting residents to support local families by participating in spring food drives at both library branches.
Visitors are encouraged to bring a non-perishable grocery item during their next visit and place it in the donation bins located near each branch entrance. All items collected will remain in the community and go directly to local food support organizations.
Library officials note that donation levels are often lower at this time of year, but community contributions can make a meaningful difference in helping keep shelves stocked and supporting neighbours in need.
Donations collected at the Acton Branch will support Acton Food Share.
Most needed items include:
- Canned meat
- Canned vegetables
- Canned pasta (with and without meat)
- Peanut butter
- Rice and pasta side dishes
- Hot chocolate
- Coffee
- Ketchup
- BBQ sauce
- Salad dressing
Items collected at the Georgetown Branch will support Georgetown Bread Basket.
Most needed items include:
- Salt
- Canned fruit
- Canned tomatoes
- Rice and pasta side dishes
- Fruit cups and snacks
- Apple sauce
- Pudding cups
HHPL says every donation, big or small, helps strengthen local food support programs and ensures assistance is available year-round.
The food drives will run until March 22nd.
