The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) has arrested a suspect following a lengthy investigation into a series of residential break and enters in Milton.
Milton saw a spike in residential break-ins throughout 2025, with most occurring after sunset and targeting unoccupied homes backing onto trail systems and greenspace corridors. Investigators determined suspects accessed rear yards from trails, smashed patio doors and quickly searched homes for high-value items, primarily gold and jewelry. Evidence also revealed the suspects used e-scooters to move through trail networks before returning to a nearby getaway vehicle described as a white 2021 Ford Explorer Police Interceptor.
On Tuesday, February 17th, investigators executed search warrants in Mississauga, including at the home of 29-year-old Abliamit Ziiadinov. Officers seized jewelry, trail cameras and electronic devices believed to have been used to surveil and target residences.
Ziiadinov has been charged with 26 offences in connection with 13 residential break and enters that occurred in Halton between September and December 2025, including Break and Enter and Disguise with Intent. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Police say more than $400,000 in valuables were stolen, along with significant property damage. Investigators are contacting victims and working to return recovered property.
A second suspect remains outstanding. Police believe the pair may be responsible for additional break-ins in Milton and surrounding communities.
Detective Sergeant Kevin Magee said the incidents are linked to organized property crime groups engaged in what police describe as “crime tourism,” a trend impacting communities across the Greater Toronto Area and Ontario.
