The FirstOntario Arts Centre Milton is marking Black History Month with a new art exhibition that celebrates Black cultural expression and storytelling.
Out of Many Cultures, One People: An Afro-Caribbean Collective is presented in partnership with the Canadian Caribbean Association of Halton (CCAH) and curated by Francesca Durham. The exhibition features vibrant works that explore themes of heritage, memory, migration and resilience, highlighting art as a unifying force that brings diverse stories together into a shared cultural voice.
The exhibition will be on display in the Holcim Gallery from Tuesday, February 3rd to Saturday, February 28th. As part of the programming, the gallery will also host a Black History Month Reading Corner on Saturday, February 14th at 11:00 a.m., presented by the Milton Public Library in partnership with the CCAH. The family-friendly event will feature author Nadia Hohn reading from her children’s book Malaika’s Costume, along with interactive storytelling, music and activities suitable for children ages four to nine, but open to all.
The Holcim Gallery is located at 1010 Main Street East, inside the FirstOntario Arts Centre Milton. Gallery hours are Mondays and Fridays from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Tuesdays to Thursdays from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
