The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) has delivered a third-quarter payment of $1,289,600 to the Town of Milton for hosting Elements Casino Mohawk.
The payment covers the period from October 1st – December 31st.
So far this fiscal year, Milton has received $5,202,69 – and since the casino opened in August 1999, the town has collected more than $154 million in total. These revenues are distributed under the Municipality Contribution Agreement, which applies a consistent formula across Ontario’s land-based casinos.
“Year after year, a share of the revenue from Elements Casino Mohawk through OLG’s Municipality Contribution Agreement has been an important source of funding for Milton, helping to deliver vital services and enhancing the quality of life of local residents,” says Milton MPP, Zee Hamid. “Host communities benefit from their share of local casino revenue, while all Ontarians benefit from OLG’s gaming revenues, as 100 per cent of OLG profits are reinvested into communities across the province. This has been an important source of funding for Milton and has helped keep property taxes low. Milton has received over $150M so far since the inception of this program.”
Since 1994, host communities across Ontario have received almost $2.4 billion in non-tax gaming revenue. OLG notes that these funds contribute to local infrastructure, economic development, and job creation, with more than $2.9 billion in private sector investments in casino facilities across the province over the past nine years.
